Description of Activity
A Digital Guide for architects and construction industry professionals that was presented through a series of 14 seminars nationally in 13 UK cities. After each seminar the guide was digitally delivered to attendees. On conclusion of the series, the guide will be openly released. The Guide covers:The background and context to the policy, legal framework and economic impacts of public competition and introduces aspects of the new regulatory environment, that address the understanding of a competition.It provides: an update on public competition reforms, the principles and contributory factors, and efficiency, effectiveness and quality implications, SME access and moves to level the playing field along with pre market engagement.The RIBA Ten Principles for Procuring Better Outcomes will be detailed, including advice on encouraging consortia bids from smaller practices, tips on consultant capability assessment, & selection of suitable building contracts. Competitive bidding is explored, including do's & don’ts on practices strengths and weaknesses, content and tone of responses to a tender invite, and identifying pass/fail areas, as well as understanding learning opportunities from the tender evaluation stage and feedback.Questions on how change in procurement culture with better competitive processes and practices might be embedded in future, is also addressed.Period | 1 Feb 2017 → 29 Nov 2017 |
