Applied Materials Society is a non profit charitable organization funded privately by its founder, Dr. Melvin Vopson.Our prime objectives are public engagement and outreach activities designed to inspire the public and school children and to raise awareness of the importance of less known aspects of Physics, Applied Physics and Materials Science.

Applied Materials Society (AMS) is a non profit charitable organization that offers outreach, government policy and public engagement on topics involving physics and cutting edge scientific research in advanced materials and technologies. AMS is also a platform from which University of Portsmouth academics involved in Applied Physics and Materials Research can communicate research news and offer their expertise to inspire future scientists and the public. Currently, the Society represents its founder's research group and its associated activities. AMS is funded privately by its founder, Dr. Melvin Vopson, as well as by charitable donations from public and companies. Our prime objectives are public engagement and outreach activities designed to inspire the public and school children and to raise awareness of the importance of less known aspects of Physics, Applied Physics and Materials Science. Our Society supports diversity and equality in Science, Technologies, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM), including gender equality and promotion of girls and women in STEM education.
