Description of Activity
The AI Symposium was a cross-faculty academic event that brought together colleagues from across the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences and the Faculty of Business and Law to engage critically with the implications of artificial intelligence for higher education. The symposium was designed as a structured space for discussion, reflection and shared learning, rather than a technical demonstration or promotional showcase.
The event focused on the opportunities, challenges and ethical considerations associated with AI, with particular attention given to assessment practice. Discussion centred on assessment design, academic integrity, evaluative judgement and the implications of AI for fairness, transparency and standards. Colleagues were encouraged to explore how AI intersects with existing pedagogical principles, quality assurance processes and institutional responsibilities.
