Description of Activity
How innovation can deliver multiple benefits + better outcomes for coastal flood resilience management. A Portsmouth review.Whether it’s thought that the sea can be commanded, or whether it can’t, is the conundrum of the Canute myth, which still lies at the heart of coastal management policy. This is investigated by exploring the authorities’ coastal management proposals for Southsea, design research into this strategy and an alternative design proposition subsequently emerging. Some lessons learnt for policy, practice and implementation that might allow better value practices to be deliver and more progressive outputs with capacity expansion are then described.
