Description of Activity
Artist workshop - interactively exploring data sets from IConICYou are invited to take part in a practical, hands-on workshop based on the exhibition currently displayed in the Space Gallery, Eldon Building: "Between Craft and Code: Making Sense of Data Materialisation". The exhibition deals with the human experience in a world of data, and we will be using the same sample of data and applying the same processes that the artists used to create their work. You will be working in teams to sketch your interpretation of the data, and work towards giving this interpretation a material form - through knotting, plaiting, fringing, sticking, or whatever might emerge from the materials and your ideas. You will also be given the opportunity to make these materials 'sing' - artist Simon Kunath will be on hand to develop the materials to become interactive. No technical expertise or background necessary, although an interest in visual communication would be good.
