    Description of Activity

Co-presented a paper entitled: "Framing Creepshow: The Curious Circularity of the Creep".

This paper proposes an intersectional analysis of Creepshow as an adaptational framework for a specific intellectual property – hence Creepshow as a comic book, film and television text and industrial template.

Starting with an examination of the concept of visual framing and the mise-en-scène in both a cinematic and comic book sense, we will examine how page layout and panel composition influenced the initial cinematic incarnation of Creepshow (George Romero and Stephen King, 1982). From this, to situate the anthology nature of the text, we will propose a further understanding of the concept of narrative framing, particularly through the reflexive devices and tonal guidance offered by the figure of the horror host, notoriously foregrounded in the Entertaining Comics (EC) horror comics of the 1950s.
