FE > HE: Transitions: The Next Steps: Creative & Cultural Industries Conference

Description of Activity

This half-day conference, entitled, Transitions: The Next Steps, builds on the FE > HE PechaKucha Workshop that was held at the University of Portsmouth Campus in Spring 2023.

This new event will be an opportunity for colleagues from local, regional and London Further Education Colleges, and the University of Portsmouth, to collaboratively explore strategies for smoothing students' transition from Further Education into Higher Education.

The conference has been designed for FE and HE educators working with students of all ages, to focus on preparing cohorts for university life.

Colleagues will have opportunities to share insightful reflections and observations, identifying key challenges faced by students during their transition into HE.

The conference will encourage the following discussions:

- Exploring how FE supports students with academic preparedness, emotional readiness, and the practical skills necessary for students to succeed at university.
- How UK HE can adapt their existing processes to effectively support FE students, before and, upon their arrival on university campuses.

This event aims to investigate better transitions for students, bridging the gap between Further Education and Higher Education through shared knowledge and in-depth conversations.
