Description of Activity

Invited panel speaker on "Inclusivity and collaborative research in the mathematical sciences" at this week-long training workshop that aims to provide attendees with an opportunity to work together and learn transferable skills in the Isaac Newton Institute’s bespoke collaborative, international research environment.

The training will cover science communication skills, industry engagement and knowledge exchange, EDI and ethics, peer support, and networking, including with some of the Institute’s international academic visitors. The workshop brings together PhD students from across the UK.

The workshop forms part of the support by the Isaac Newton Institute (INI) for Maths-related Centres for Doctoral Training (CDTs) funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC). It is the first INI and Newton Gateway graduate training workshop under the scheme, open to PhD students in the mathematical sciences broadly defined who are at least in their second year.

Attendees include both those from existing CDTs in the mathematical sciences as well as mathematics PhD students not affiliated with a CDT and studying at a UK HE institution.
