Description of Activity
Organiser of the Learning & Teaching Conference.
This event provided a forum for discussion around the issues colleagues in Further Education and Higher Education are currently facing with regards to:
- Student Engagement - Wellbeing - Belonging - The transition of students from FE to HE - Solutions that are being implemented to overcome these challenges
The style of presentation for the day was in the form of a PechaKucha.
This is a format requiring 20 slides with 20 seconds of commentary each (resulting in a 6 minutes 40 seconds duration presentation). The slides are used to describe a particular case study or example where your institution has overcome some (or all) of the challenges described above.
From one perspective, presentations of this kind are relatively undemanding compared to a more traditional 20 minute format. On the other hand, the PechaKucha’s requirements for brevity and accessibility are rather challenging, and it is this enforced streamlining of complex discoveries and findings that makes the experience of putting together and delivering this kind of presentation so valuable.
This informal event provided an opportunity for colleagues to share good practice, to learn from each other's experiences and lead to collaboration on initiatives to benefit students studying in both contexts.
