Newhaven Heritage Walking Routes

Description of Activity

This HLF-funded project brought together members of the Newhaven and environs community to research and develop three walking tours to aid in Newhaven's regeneration. Newhaven is a 900 year old port on the East Sussex Coast. Cathryn Pearce participated in researching and developing Route Two: Newhaven's Eastside and Route Three: Central Newhaven, particularly focusing on Newhaven's pre-twentieth century environmental history (the oyster ponds) and the history of local pubs and the HR Customs House. She is also one of the walking tour guides.
