Emerging technologies, such as artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), drive many businesses changes through digital transformation, which leads to a new wave of automation of services, tasks and processes, even complex decision making by automatous machines in multiple sectors. The proliferation of AI and its wide application, is with no doubt, benefit individual and organisations in many ways, but not without risks and unwanted consequences. This is because a) the decision situation can be unfamiliar, unique, infrequent and heterogeneous; hence variables cannot be pre-defined to develop the AI; b) relevant data and knowledge may not be readily available and accessible; c) algorithms may be biased and not be able to incorporate all assumptions and models; d) AI decision is not trustworthy due to lack of transparency, lack of ethical consideration, incapable to handle decision dilemma, high risks, inadequate machine judgement on fairness, and lack of accountability and explainability. The risk can be exacerbated by the lack of authoritive governance framework to regulate, control and guide AI development and application, and inconsistency of AI development and management practice cross industrial sectors and countries. This project focus on two issues: 1) Responsible AI; 2) Digital governance. More specifically, theoretical and experimental research to address the issues from either responsible AI machines and / or organisational deployment of AI perspectives with three dimensions: risk, ethics and governance.
