More autistic people are entering higher education than ever before, but they are still likely to encounter a range of challenges, from outright stigmatising attitudes to obscure university systems. This symposium brings together a set of leading experts in the field of neurodiversity in higher education to present new research on the experiences of autistic university students and the ways in which we can work to make higher education a more neurodiversity-friendly space. The neurodivergent presenters bring together research, professional, and personal knowledge to make a series of suggestions which will be useful for autistic individuals at university as well as academics to take back into their own practice. This should lead to a more accessible and supportive time at university, allowing autistic students to thrive and reach their full potential.
