Description of Activity
Gave a speech on 'Global Compliance Locally: Local Branches, Leaders and Employees' - Efforts to catch and punish corporations and individuals that fail to comply with laws prohibiting international corruption are on the rise. The laws underlying these efforts often have wide extraterritorial reach. The U.S. authorities, for example, have sanctioned more non-American businesses for their overseas bribes than companies based in the U.S. In effect, an acceptable way of doing business locally might lead to huge global compliance problems, and global compliance problems often have significant local consequences. In this session, you will consider some of the most significant corruption cases and learn about the implications of extraterritorial anti-corruption enforcement on responsibility and liability of local branches, leaders and employees.
