Description of Activity
Talk entitled 'Living with dementia at home: the importance of the home environment'In this talk, we explore the importance of the home environment for people living with dementia and their family carers. How does the domestic environment affect their health and wellbeing? Why and how do people adapt their homes? And how does that affect the meaning of home for them? The presentation looks at the different dimensions of the home and how it needs to be enabling, and remain flexible to accommodate changes and challenges as we age, not only for the person with dementia but their family carers as well. It uses findings from research in the area of Portsmouth and looks into some old but useful ideas.
