Conference Presentation - ‘Jailbaits and lolis’: Understanding the prevalence of Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM) in incel discourse

For researchers examining technology-facilitated violence, misogynistic incel communities represent a persistent nexus of gendered abuse. Yet the intersection between these communities and the sexualisation of minors remains underexplored. This study addresses this gap by analysing references to children on Incels.Wiki, focusing on how established child sexual abuse terminology intersects with traditional incel language. Using thematic and discourse analysis, it examines the prevalence of such terms, their links to exploitation networks, and their role in normalising gendered sexual violence. By mapping shared keywords between incel and CSAM discourses, the study identifies conceptual overlaps that extend from the sexualisation of minors to the endorsement of illegal online content and the use of generative AI in the exploitation of women and children. Situated within the broader field of technology-facilitated abuse, this research demonstrates how extremist digital subcultures endorse child sexual exploitation and abuse (OCSEA), and provides recommendations aimed at mitigating technology’s role in amplifying child sexual exploitation and evolving online harms.
