Description of Activity

The British Academy Ideas Festival returns on Friday 19 and Saturday 20 June. Celebrating bold thinking and unexpected discoveries from the histories that shape our identities to the forces influencing politics, culture and technology. You’ll be pulled into questions about power, belief, belonging and the future that help us to understand the world – and ourselves – differently.

Dr Argenis Ramirez Gomez delivered a Pop-up research exhibition titled "Greetings from creepy futures: re-imagining technology as design fictions".

Abstract: What happens when technology is deliberately made to feel unsettling? Working with speculative design and imagination, create fictional “creepy” devices from the futures, using them as tools to reflect on what ethical, responsible and humane technology should – and shouldn’t – look like.
