Description of Activity

The Portsmouth Elephant Cage brought together seventeen young Dutch and British experts in Architecture, Landscape and Engineering to work jointly on design research to investigate the Portsmouth and Southsea coast frontage. The work was undertaken in collaboration with Portsmouth School of Architecture Masters students. Seven eminent expert design mentors from three disciplines presented a range of papers informing the brief and context, and supported the teams through the programme.
UK participants, were selected in response to a Competition brief and process, through an 'Open Design Contest' organised by Project Compass.
