Description of Activity
Presented a paper at the 'Role of Media and Communications in Sustainability and Social Justice' seminar. Looking closely at ‘Who We Are Now’ is an introspective process that can help us explore our role as media, communications, and cultural studies experts and students. Embedded in our dual degrees are the practical pathways toward this critical knowledge via the application of these disciplines in the creative practice and political analysis of truly urgent global problems around sustainability and social justice. By demonstrating the impressive work from our students within this degree, this presentation will illustrate how you—as a media, communications, and cultural studies professional—can help work towards creative responses.
This series of public events hosted by the University of Portsmouth, UK and Edith Cowan University, Australia brings together university researchers, civil society leaders, and industry experts to debate and discuss big picture questions facing their disciplinary areas in the context of the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Illuminating local approaches to global challenges within specific disciplinary areas, this series of public events offers the opportunity to reflect on shared and divergent experiences in tackling local problems and to learn more about our exciting dual degree programmes that enable students to study in both the UK and Australia.
This event is part of the UK/Australia Season, a partnership between the British Council and the Australian Government’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
