The Aftermath of the Israel-Hamas Ceasefire

Press/Media: Expert comment

Description

The first three hostages in an Israel-Hamas ceasefire deal were released on Sunday evening, however peace between the parties is far from being secured. Both sides reached an agreement on an initial six-week truce, which leaves the big questions unresolved. 16 days into the first phase, Israeli and Hamas officials are expected to begin negotiating the next steps, which include: an end to the war, the release of the remaining living hostages in Gaza and the withdrawal of Israeli forces from the territory.
