    For many it can be alarming to see reports that the Department for Education (DfE) has recruited less than 60% of its target for new secondary school teachers this year in England. However, for those working in education this story brings about a strong sense of deja vu and for good reason.

      DescriptionSince 2015 the DfE has only managed to meet the new teacher recruitment target once which was in 2020. Furthermore, this challenge does not appear to be limited to England as there are indications that Scotland and Wales are struggling to recruit new teachers too.
