Winter wellness: backlash, fatigue and the Fat Bear philosophy

    Press/Media: Expert comment

    Description

'Fat Bear winter': the idea that, dissillusioned by health and wellness culture, people are deciding to stay at home in the warm as the days get shorter and darker, deliberately putting on the pounds ready for the cold weather. Much like a bear, the idea is that you eat what you like, move very little, and accept that this is the way autumn should be, rather than bother trying to participate in exhausting exercise regimes or joyless diets.
