Independent living in later life or with disability: is Homeshare a viable housing and care solution?

Impact: Health & Welfare Impacts

Description of impact

‘Homeshare’ is a scheme whereby a person who requires some support in order to live independently can exchange accommodation for the support. Accommodation in the form of a spare room is offered in exchange for ten hours of support each week. Dr Laura Hyman and I have been working on developing a bid for submission to the NIHR evaluating and exploring intergenerational living, notions of independence, experiences of health and wellbeing in later life. This will have significant impact on providing evidence for this innovative scheme because it addresses both the social and care crisis and housing challenges.
