Description of impactMy published research on sleep problems in children with Down syndrome led me to being asked to write a guide for parents of children with Down syndrome for the UK Down's Syndrome Association entitled ‘Managing sleep problems’ which contains practical advice on dealing with such problems. This has received very positive feedback from parents and professionals and has had over 5,000 downloads from their website since 2013. I have been asked to produce three separate editions of this guide since it was first published in 2008 and it continues to be widely used today.
My research on children and adults with Down syndrome has also led to me writing a number of invited articles for the UK Down’s Syndrome Association’s various publications for parents, carers and professionals on practical advice in dealing with sleep problems.
My research has been extensively featured on the UK Down’s Syndrome Association’s webpages, online resources and social media outlets. This has led to further dissemination via sharing of articles, blogs and social media posts by other organisations related to learning disability with hundreds of comments and shares having taken place on Twitter, Facebook and other online outlets.
