Alessia Tranchese is a Senior Lecturer in Communication and Applied Linguistics teaching and researching issues related to language, sexuality, violence against women, and digital media.

Her most recent research project focuses on the linguistic commonalities between mainstream pornography and misogynistic online communities like incels. She has recently published a book on #metoo and the representation of sexual violence in the media. Methodologically, she uses quantitative and qualitative methods from the social sciences and corpus linguistics.

Outside of her academic career, she has worked with organisations and think tanks including The Zero Tolerance Charitable Trust, Against Violence and Abuse (AVA), the West London Rape Crisis Centre, DEMOS and Full Fact.
