Summary

I am a Senior Lecturer in the Accounting and Financial Management subject group within the Faculty of Business and Law. My background is in industry working as an accountant for major corporations such as IBM and BT. My teaching is focused upon the subject area of financial management specifically Financial Markets and Institutions and International Financial Management. I am an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (HEA).

Biography

Prior to joining the university I worked in industry in a variety of accounting roles for major corporations such as IBM and BT. The most recent role was at IBM’s UK HQ at North Harbour where I dealt with all aspects of end of lease pricing and lease accounting. I was also part of a software implementation team to install a new leasing system.

Research Interests

My current research interest is in corporate risk taking focusing on what personal characteristics of CEOs influences their preference for risk taking. Previous research interests have included employee & student motivation.

Teaching Responsibilities

I teach and manage a number of undergraduate modules in the Accounting and Financial Management subject group. I am the module coordinator for the level 5 module Financial Markets and Institutions as well being a personal tutor for level 5 direct entry international students. I also teach final year students. I am the module coordinator for the level 6 module International Financial Management and teach on the Independent Study Project and supervise dissertations.
