Ashleigh Hannay

Ashleigh Hannay is a current PhD student at the University of Portsmouth. Her doctoral thesis is focused on the theme of 'return' within African American women's literature. She examines how these authors centre women’s returns as a form of intergenerational working-through, framing return as an ongoing negotiation with inherited trauma rather than a moment of resolution. Her interdisciplinary approach is both literary and historical, with a strong grounding in American studies.
