Personal profile

I am a Senior Lecturer in Naval History at the Faculty of Business and Law based at the RAF College, Cranwell. I am also General Editor of the Navy Records Society.

At Cranwell I have taught on a variety of officer training courses at undergraduate and postgraduate levels since 2006, whilst also undertaking administrative and managerial roles.

I am completing a three volume series of documents on The Fleet Air Arm in the Second World War for the Navy Records Society; the first two volumes being published in 2012 and 2018. I have co-authored a book on air power in the maritime environment during the World Wars, whilst also producing refereed articles and book chapters.

In my role for the Navy Records Society, I liaise with editors of volumes and the publisher in supervising the production of the Society's annual volume.

In 2005 I joined the Air Power Studies Division of the Defence Studies Department, King's College London as a Lecturer. I transferred to the University of Portsmouth when it won the academic contract at RAF Cranwell in 2012. I was promoted to Senior Lecturer in 2014 and was Course Manager of the Initial Officer Training Course between 2014-2017. I briefly undertook the role of Assistant Director (Academic) in 2017.

In 2011 I became a Councillor of the Navy Records Society. Since 2013 I have been the Society's General Editor with responsibility for its prestigious series of volumes.
