Personal profile
Summary
I am a part time Teaching Fellow at the University of Portsmouth and a Clinical Psychologist by background.
Biography
I graduated from the University of Plymouth in 2005, with a BSc (hons) in Psychology. I’d previously worked voluntarily with people with learning disabilities and my dissertation collaborated with young children and people with Down’s Syndrome. About a year after graduating, I decided to actively pursue a career as a clinical psychologist.
Initially, I worked within learning disability charities around the south coast, after which I took healthcare assistant and assistant psychologist roles within a number of London NHS Trusts, across a broad range of mental health services.
I completed my Doctorate in Clinical Psychology in 2015, from The Salomon’s Institute of Applied Psychology, Canterbury Christ Church University. I went on to specialise in secondary and tertiary mental health settings, supporting people with a diagnosis of psychosis or bipolar disorder using a range of evidence-based treatments including: Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Systemic Family Therapy.
Alongside my NHS clinical work, in 2019, I started working as a Trainer, offering post-qualification training to professionals in various mental health-related subjects.
Teaching Responsibilities
I mainly teach on the Issues in Clinical and Health Module. I also lecture in other modules (Neuroscience, Perspectives in Psychology, Individual Differences). My role is to present on a range of topics related to clinical psychology and psychotherapy more generally.
