Biography
Charlotte is an Associate Professor of Graduate Employability & Work-Integrated Learning and the Programme Lead for Professional Courses in the School of Law. This follows 15+ years of academic leadership roles at School, Faculty and University level, most recently as University Placement Lead where she provided strategic leadership to harmonise practice and develop institutional policy around the university's optional placements provision.
Research Interests
Charlotte has a significant and sustained record of scalable, research-led curriculum innovation to support graduate employability and career development. This includes the "Value Me" framework, which empowers students to decide the story they want to tell about themselves, and enables them to project their skills, strengths and values confidently and authentically. An evaluation of the framework was written up and published in 2020 in Studies in Higher Education. It was also highlighted as an example of innovative practice in an Advance HE Case Study Compendium. A spin off framework has been created for schools and Charlotte is currently developing an adapted framework for academic and professional services staff in universities.
Charlotte's research interests include the intersection of policy and practice in careers education and work-integrated learning; the role of careers education in the development of social justice and UN SDGs; career transitions; and discourses of belonging, wellbeing, confidence, and notions of 'success' throughout the higher education and early career journey.
Teaching Responsibilities
Charlotte's main areas of teaching span Contract Law; professional legal skills; and career development modules.
