Personal profile

Biography

I am a senior lecturer and course leader for the PGCE Computer Science course.  I am work in the Technology Faculty delivering outreach in STEM subjects through a wide range of activities for schools and colleges. The aim is to get people to develop an interest in these subjects and hopefully want to study them further. I am particularly keen to engage with groups who are under-represented in these subjects.

Prior to this I worked in a number of roles, which have given me a large pool of experience to draw on. I started out as a field geophysicist in Africa before becoming a project geophysicist, using geostatistical analysis for depth prediction and velocity modelling. I then moved on to becoming a web developer/manager in the NHS, and chairing the NHS Web Team group. I spent a lot of this time training and teaching others, something I really enjoy, which led me to becoming a teacher, and have taught in a number of schools in London and the South Coast.
