Biography

I am a Professor of Global Environmental Solutions at the University of Portsmouth, passionate about addressing global environmental challenges through innovation, collaboration, and education. As the Founding Director of the Centre for Environmental and Renewable Energy Solutions (CERES), I’ve had the privilege of managing over £15 million in externally funded projects, driving impactful research in sustainable energy and environmental technologies.

My work extends beyond academia as Director of the International Cleantech Network and Greentech South, where I’ve supported cleantech development by facilitating over £65 million in inward investment and creating more than 790 jobs.

With a strong background in leading multidisciplinary teams and influencing policy, I’m dedicated to advancing low-carbon solutions and fostering sustainable growth at both local and global levels.

Research Interests

My research focuses on decarbonisation, sustainable energy, and cleantech innovation. I’m particularly interested in how these intersect with smart technologies, energy management, and policy-making to create sustainable systems that benefit communities worldwide.
