Summary

I am a Senior Teaching Fellow in Sport and Exercise Psychology in the School of Sport, Health and Exercise Science at the University of Portsmouth. As a training Sport and Exercise Psychologist, I have worked with individual athletes and organisations spanning a range of sports, ages, levels and cultures. More recently I work as a consultant Performance Psychologist for the Football Association supporting the parafootball squads.

Biography

I joined the School of Sport, Health and Exercise Science in September 2021 as a Senior Teaching Fellow in Sport and Exercise Psychology. Prior to joining the University of Portsmouth, I previously completed a PgDip Conversion Course in Psychology (2015-2016) at Manchester Metropolitan University, MSc in Sport and Exercise Psychology (2014-2015) and BSc (Hons) Sport and Exercise Science (2011-2014) both at the University of Portsmouth. Currently, I am undertaking my Professional Doctorate in Sport and Exercise Psychology (2017-) at the University of Portsmouth.

Research Interests

My research interests focus on the role stress and self-care play in the performance and wellbeing of sport coaches. In particular, I have an interest in the psychophysiological responses to stress during competition and how individuals can proactively engage in self-care to promote wellbeing and prevent ill-being. I also have interests in applied sport psychology namely, the use of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy in sport.
