Personal profile

Summary

I am a Senior Lecturer on the Bachelor of Nursing (Adult) programme.  I am the unit co-ordinator for Foundations of Nursing Practice (L4) and one of the placement lead tutors.

I am an experienced nurse with registration in both Adult and Children’s nursing and a wealth of experience across clinical practice, especially in critical care.

Prior to starting my role at the University, I worked as a Practice Educator for a local acute NHS Trust for Medicine specialties including respiratory, cardiology and gastroenterology. This role involved designing and delivering formal and informal teaching sessions to all members of the multidisciplinary team (for example safeguarding adults, blood awareness), but predominantly for registered and non registered nursing staff. I was the Safeguarding Operational Lead for this department and regularly provided ward based clinical care to patients.

My background includes working in adult Intensive Care Units on the south coast and Paediatric Intensive Care in London.  I was a founder member of a critical care outreach team, providing high acuity care, support and advice within a large district general hospital. I was invited to deliver a presentation of this innovative nurse led service at an international critical care conference.
