Djamel Ait-Boudaoud

I joined the University in 2010 as Dean of the Faculty of Technology. I spent several decades working in higher education in the UK and overseas. Prior to joining the University of Portsmouth, I was the head of School of Computing, Engineering and Physical Sciences at the University of Central Lancashire for close to 10 years. I gained a PhD in 1991 from the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at University of Nottingham, UK. I am a Chartered Engineer (CEng) and a fellow of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (FIET).

My research interests are predominantly focussed on the problems of optimisation with applications in 3D computer vision, video standards, and solving combinatorial problems using evolutionary algorithms. 

I organised and chaired the 2013 EPC Congress and served as a committee member of the Engineering Professors’ Council (EPC) for several years.  I have also assessed institutional applications as a member of the readers’ panel for the Queen’s Anniversary Prize for Higher and Further Education, UK.
