Personal profile

Biography

I am a Senior Lecturer at the Portsmouth University of Architecture. I possess more than ten years of substantial academic experience in Architecture, Urban and Interior Design. I had taught among other Institutions in Arts University of Bournemouth, and The University of Hong Kong. I combine my teaching and research responsibilities, with my practice. I am a registered architect with twenty years of consolidated experience in Architecture and Interior Design. I lead my own professional practice throughout the full project life cycle from concept design to construction documents, to site management and construction. Previously, I have worked in international renowned firms in New York City, Madrid and Rotterdam.

Research Interests

My research focuses on architectural follies, small-scale structures, constructed primarily for decoration, but suggesting by its appearance some other purpose. I investigate how this typology, and historical feature located on estates and then parks, has been denigrated and often forgotten. Historically design with a stylistic design, or the combination of some, is itself a cross-disciplinary subject that gravitates in the boundaries of architecture landscape architecture, urban design, engineering, and sculpture.
