 PhD student at the University of Portsmouth in the UK in Area Studies, History, Politics and Literature. Thesis is on civil-military relations in Nigeria. Received a Master of Research at the University of Bath in Security, Conflict and Human Rights in 2019 obtaining a merit, and have a MPhil in Defence and Strategic Studies from the University of Madras in India (2010). Dissertation for the MPhil titled “The Impact of Democracy on Ethno-Religious Conflict, A Case Study of India with Lessons for Nigeria” won the Ghandi Prize. Have a BA (Hons) in War Studies from the University of Baluchistan in Pakistan (2000) and a BA (Hons) in History from the Royal Holloway College, University of London (2019), graduating with a 2:1 and the overall best performance of the 2019 academic year.

Research interests are civil-military relations, security, conflict and development in Sub-Saharan Africa, and current trends in irregular warfare. Alumnus of the Command and Staff College, Pakistan and the National Defence College, India.  Certified Protection Professional (CPP) of the American Society of Industrial Security (ASIS) and member of the Security Institute of the UK and British International Studies Association. Fellow of the Inter-University Seminar on Armed Forces and Society.

Previously served for over three decades in the Nigerian military.   Directing Staff,  Armed Forces Command and Staff College, in Nigeria (2001-2003). Director of Administration, Defence Headquarters, (2016), Chief of Training and Operations of the Nigerian Army, (2015-2016) and division commander (2014-2015).  Commanding Officer Nigerian Battalion (NIBATT 8), African Union Mission in Darfur, Sudan (AMIS-2007). Co-founder/director of a security protection and logistics company that helps to provide bespoke security consultancy services to various clients across Nigeria (2016-date).
