Personal profile

Biography

I joined the University of Portsmouth in March, where I began my journey as a Research Assistant. Over the years, I have advanced to a senior lecturing position in Sport, Exercise, and Health. Within this field, my teaching and research revolves around occupational physiology and strength and conditioning.

Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of collaborating with esteemed organisations, including the: Army, Navy and RAF, Energy Institute,  G+ Offshore Wind Health and Safety Organisation, RNLI, and the Maritime and Coastguard Agency.

Before joining the University of Portsmouth, I spent four years as a Scientific Officer specialising in occupational physiology at the Environmental Medicine Unit within the Institute of Naval Medicine (INM). This experience provided me with a solid foundation and comprehensive understanding of this specific field.

In addition to my academic and professional achievements, I am an accredited BASES Physiologist and Supervisor and Chartered Scientist since 2006.

Research Interests

My research focuses on occupational physiology specifically designing, implementing and training of physical employment standards for the Military, RNLI, HM Coastguards and the Oil and Gas Industry and the impact of age, sex and extreme environments on the ability of individuals to perform their job.

Teaching Responsibilities

Presently, I have the privilege of serving as the Departmental Director of Postgraduate Research (DDPGR) while also fulfilling the role of Module Coordinator for our L5 Strength and Conditioning for Sport, Exercise, and Health. These positions allow me to contribute to the academic and professional growth of our students in the field.
