Personal profile
Biography
I am a Principal Lecturer and Programmes Area Lead/Subject Lead for Marketing and Hospitality and Tourism and a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA). In this role, I provide strategic and pedagogical leadership across these disciplines, leading curriculum development, enhancing academic quality, and shaping an inclusive and industry-relevant student experience.
I am a strong advocate for employability and student knowledge exchange. I design and lead initiatives that embed real-world learning into the curriculum, including live-client projects, industry collaborations, and authentic assessment. I also launched The Marketing Agency at the University of Portsmouth, providing students with hands-on experience working with real clients.
Through my pedagogical leadership, I aim to influence teaching practice, support colleagues and drive innovation in learning and teaching. My goal is to equip students with the skills, confidence and professional awareness needed to succeed in dynamic service-sector careers.
Before joining the University of Portsmouth, I worked at Sheffield Hallam University, where I also completed my PhD on Emotional Labour, alongside a Master’s degree in International Tourism. My academic work is underpinned by industry experience in hospitality and tourism, which continues to inform both my teaching and research.
