I am the Departmental Director of Postgraduate Research in the School of Criminology and Criminal Justice. I have previously been the Course Leader for the Professional Doctorate in Security Risk Management and the Course Leader for the MSc Cybercrime (Distance Learning). I sit on the Executive Committee for the Centre for Cybercrime and Economic Crime, I am an Expert Fellow of SPRITE+, Full Member of CRANE, Member of the UK Cyber Effects Network, Member of SASIG, and I am previously a Founding Committee Member of the Defence and Security Psychology Section of the British Psychological Society.

I graduated with a BSc (Hons) Social Psychology from Loughborough University in 2008, followed by an MSc Social and Applied Psychology at the University of Kent in 2009. In 2015, I completed my PhD in Psychology at the University of Lincoln. My thesis focused on developing a holistic, risk-based and future focused approach to deception.

I conducted my post-doctoral research in the Department of Cognitive Science at the University of Malta, working on the CITYCoP project. This research examined fear of crime, risk perception, and feelings of security and insecurity, and whether these can be measured through a smartphone application.

I joined the University of Portsmouth as a Senior Research Associate in the School of Computing, where I worked on the cSALSA project. The focus of this research was to examine human cyber security risk across working age populations.

In August 2020 I joined the School of Criminology and Criminal Justice as a Lecturer in Cybercrime, before being promoted to Senior Lecturer in Cybercrime in October 2022.

The broad focus of my research is on human-centred cybersecurity and on defence and security psychology. My current research interests are:

• Artificial Intelligence as a Decision-Support Tool
