Jac Reed is a lecturer in Criminology and Forensic Studies at the School of Criminology and Criminal Justice for the University of Portsmouth and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

Additionally, Jac is the Pedagogic Lead for Immersive learning

Jac is the country link tutor for the Justice Institute of British Columbia (JIBC) Canada


Jac gained her MSc in Crime Science, Intelligence, and Investigation at the Institute of Criminal Justice and is currently undertaking a Doctorate in Education (EdD) focussing on the intersection between crime science and conservation.  Prior to academia, Jas was a Former Forensic Scene Investigator with West Midlands Police and has considerable experience in the application of forensic investigation.

Jac's research Interests and practice specialisms focus on:

  • Wildlife crime forensics and environmental justice
  • Immersive learning methodologies and decision making
  • Investigative strategies
  • The training and education of law enforcement personnel around the world

Teaching Responsibilities

Jac teaches across a range of undergraduate and postgraduate modules, specifically related to crime science, wildlifecrime, policing, investigation, and forensic investigation.  I am also a personal tutor to numerous students across programs from levels 4-7.
