My current research interests lie in probability and statistical physics, applied to the social and natural world, including language evolution. I currently hold a Royal Society APEX award (2018-2021) and before this I was funded by a Leverhulme Research Fellowship (2016-2017). I studied Physics at the University of Warwick, followed by Maths Part III and a Ph.D. in Statistical Physics at Cambridge University. After my Ph.D. I worked in banking as a Quant in interest rate derivatives, and then as a school Mathematics and Physics teacher, before returning to academia in 2012.
Probability and statistical physics, applied to language change and other social and ecological systems. To see my publications, click the Outputs tab, or my Researchgate Profile: https://www.researchgate.net/profile/James_Burridge
