Biography

Jane joined CCi in 2010, originally as an Associate Dean, having previously worked in the Faculty of Technology as the Faculty Learning & Teaching Coordinator and  Principal Lecturer in the School of Computing.  Her research began with intelligent computer aided learning and developed into investigating and designing ways of making the learning of threshold concepts in computing interesting and engaging through, for example, the use of games and kinesthetic tools to provide a non-technical context  which can enable students to explore new concepts, provide a "Trojan horse" to disrupt existing thinking patterns and  engage a range of senses and learning styles.  More recently Jane has been involved in the the use of virtual worlds for telecare, documentation of pedagogical patterns and the use of socially-constructed metadata for library collections.
