I would be interested in supervising students in the area of breast biomechanics, breast health, bra fit and functional breast support in special populations (such as maternity, uniformed services etc.).
I joined the School as a research assistant and associate lecturer in 2007 and subsequently started a part-time PhD in the area of breast biomechanics. I previously graduated from this University in July 2006, having completed a BSc (Hons) in Sports Science. I then went on to complete an MSc in Sport and Exercise Biomechanics at the University of Chichester (2006-2007). Since 2011 I have held an academic position at the University of Portsmouth and I am a fellow of the Higher Education Authority. I completed my PhD in July 2013, which focused on the breast support implications for female recreational athletes. I am now an Associate Professor in Applied Biomechanics & Women's Health. I am continuing to carry out research and innovation activities as part of the Research Group in Breast Health with a focus on functional breast support requirements for occupational groups.
My primary research area is breast biomechanics and breast health and my PhD was focused on investigating breast support implications for female recreational athletes. My main research interests are in breast health issues such as breast pain and poor bra fit, functional breast support and the effect of breast support on performance during occupational activities.
