As Associate Head (Research and Innovation), I lead the strategic planning and implementation of research and innovation activities in the School of Health and Care Professions. I am developing a research portfolio that explores what it is like to live with long term conditions and risk in the community setting. I teach across the Nursing course, and supervise a number of undergraduate and postgraduate students. 

My research interests lie in the area of the patient perspective, particularly what it is like to live with and how people can adapt to having a long-term condition. Previous research developed a theory of how individuals adapt to having thrombophilia or asthma. I am also interested in how those with long-term conditions perceive different types of space. 

I have an interest in evidence-based practice and how students can be supported to incorporate the use of evidence into their nursing practice, both whilst still students and as registered nurses. 

I teach across several modules, including Evidence based decision-making, Nursing People with Long Term Conditions, Service Improvement Project. I am a personal tutor for the Nursing course. I am a supervisor to several Doctoral students researching a range of topics, including experiences of healthcare in prisons, the use of technology in lifestyle and healthcare interventions, and the role of both healthcare practitioners and parents in care.
