Personal profile

Biography

I am an English language teacher with a professional background in lexicography and corpus linguistics.  During my career I have contributed to more than 30 published dictionaries and language reference works, including the COBUILD range, the Partridge Dictionary of Slang, and the Dante lexical database.

I am particularly interested in the digital humanities and crowdsourced language data, and am part of a team exploring the lexical features of online discussion among citizen scientists. We have compiled a large corpus of online talk in citizen science, and recently contributed a chapter based on this work to the Routledge Handbook of English Language and Digital Humanities.
