Biography

Jon Brain is a Belgian/British Sport and Exercise Psychologist (in training) and Professional Doctorate candidate at the University of Portsmouth. 

Jon joined the University of Portsmouth in October 2021. He completed a BSc (Hons) at Coventry University and a MSc in Sport and Exercise Psychology at Loughborough University. Jon's doctoral research focusses on developing an understanding of how sport and psychology services can be translated and applied in the fast-growing performance domain of esports. 

When not conducting research, Jon works as an applied practitioner in both traditional sport and esports. Jon is also the co-founder of Sport Psychology consultancy, Mastering the Mind. He also co-created the "Mastering the Mind Podcast", an approved BASES SEPAR endorsed resource. 

Research Interests

My research interests are rooted in professional development and practice, esport psychology, the psychology of sports injuries, and normative and non-normative transitions in academy football.
