Summary

I am a Specialist Research Technician working predominantly within the Enzyme Engineering team of the Centre for Enzyme Innovation (CEI). My role is to support research into the production of plastic degrading enzymes by recombinant expression, as well as assisting with further analysis and structural characterisation. 

I have 5 years industry experience working in the Microbiology sector and have a keen interest in sustainability.

Biography

I graduated from the University of Portsmouth in 2017 with a BSc (Hons) in Biochemistry. Following this I began a role in industry, working at a GLP/GMP compliant laboratory. My work centred around microbial pathogens found in pharmaceuticals and medical devices, I developed a number of analytical techniques working under GLP and GMP compliance. I was promoted to Senior Technician in 2020 where I was responsible for documenting methods in Standard Operating Procedures, investigating non-conformances and held supervisory responsibilities.

I joined the Centre for Enzyme Innovation in February 2023 as a Specialist Research Technician.
