Khalil Alkadhimi

I completed my MEng and PhD at the University of Sheffield (Department of Automatic Control and Systems Engineering). I won the “ORS award” for my PhD research in the area of “Multi-input Multi-output adaptive/self-tuning control of multivariable systems”. I'm a Chartered Engineer (CEng) and a member of the Institute of Engineering and Technology (MIET). I served the institute as a committee member of the IEE (C14) Computer and Control and (A7) Informatics (Information Technology) Divisions.

I started my academic career as a lecturer at Staffordshire University and moved to the University of Portsmouth as a senior lecturer in 1990. I won various performance, recognition, and contributions awards from the UoP and was promoted to Principal Lecturer in 1998. I served as a member of the School of Engineering Executive team (from July 2011 – June 2015) and as a course leader for 9 MSc courses in the school.

I teach Control Systems Analysis and Design to undergraduate and Postgraduate students. I served the University of Portsmouth as a member of the Faculty Teaching and Learning Committee, the Faculty Curriculum Approval Committee, and the Faculty Validating Panel (Postgraduate and Undergraduate Courses).

I organised and chaired sessions for national and international conferences, and won various research grants with EPSRC, as well as 'Teaching and Learning' UoP internal development funds. I served as the university link to national and international educational institutions. I have served the school as the Associate Head (Curriculum and Partnerships) since February 2019. I am currently the Interim Head of the Energy & Electronic Engineering school.
