Personal profile


I am a geologist specialising in isotope geochemistry, geochronology and petrology. My research at the University of Portsmouth focuses on placing temporal constraints of the magmatic evolution of Mars by integration of imaging, EBSD and U-Pb geochronology of baddeleyite and, where present, zircon within martian meteorites.

2019-Present: Senior Research Associate, University of Portsmouth. Linking of microstructural data and U-Th-Pb geochronology of Zr-bearing accessory phases within martian meteorites to better constrain the magmatic evolution of Mars. 

2015-2019: PhD student within the Bristol Isotope Group, at the University of Bristol. Investigating the provenance and age of detrital chromites and zircons from Jack Hills, Western Australia.  

2011-2015: MGeol student at the University of Leicester

Research Interests

  • Geochronology of martian meteorites and subsequent implications for the age of mafic magmatism on Mars
  • Microstructural signatures of metamorphism (e.g. shock, regional) within accessory minerals and the resultant effects on geochronology
  • The use of chromites and spinels in understanding the petrogenesis and tectonic setting of mafic and ultramafic crust within the early Earth (>2.5 Ga)
  • Jack Hills detrital zircons and their implications for Hadean and Archean geodynamic regimes
