Lisa Hyatt

Lisa is Associate Head (Academic) in the School of Dental, Health and Care Professions at the University of Portsmouth, where she provides strategic leadership for education quality, academic standards and enhancement. A Registered Nurse and Fellow of Advance HE, she is committed to delivering high-quality, student-centred learning within higher education.

She qualified as a Registered Nurse (Adult) in 2009, following completion of a postgraduate diploma in Adult Nursing at the University of Southampton. Her clinical expertise lies in research delivery, having led a wide-ranging portfolio of clinical trials and applied health studies across NHS settings. This practice-based experience underpins her academic leadership and teaching.

Since joining the University of Portsmouth in 2018, Lisa has undertaken a series of academic leadership roles. In her current position, and previously as Programme Lead for courses approved by the Nursing and Midwifery Council, she has led curriculum innovation, quality enhancement and regulatory alignment, with a sustained focus on student success, retention and professional readiness. Her contributions have supported enhancements to the student experience, reflected in strong outcomes in the 2025 National Student Survey (NSS) for Nursing.

Lisa teaches and assesses across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. Her academic interests include evidence-based practice, quality improvement, organisational change and leadership development in healthcare and higher education.

Through her role, Lisa continues to strengthen educational quality and student outcomes through collaborative, evidence-informed leadership. She is dedicated to preparing graduates who are adaptable, reflective and equipped to meet the changing demands of contemporary healthcare, while promoting innovation and excellence in health professions education.
